Colleen Cuisine brings you: The Pinkberry vs. Kiwiberri vs. Fiore Challenge.
Three yogurts enter, one yogurt leaves.

I assure you that in true Democratic fashion, this poll is 100% independently owned and operated. You can only vote once, so there will be no ballot-stuffing or unfair play.

I hang my head in shame and admit that I've yet to try any of them. I've seen the line at Pinkberry--it snakes out the door, down the block and past the police who stand guard to ensure that nobody hits someone on the head with a Hermes bag in order to cut in line. How good can frozen yogurt be???

Okay, so I voted for Pinkberry. But they are starting to lose points with me for not opening up any of their promised additional locations. Just yesterday I called Huntley to see if the 6th and Berendo shop had debuted, only to be told that it might be another month or more, that there have been 'hold ups'.

I do not understand, how hard could it be to build out a small space, stick a frozen yogurt machine and a refrigerated unit for toppings, and open up shop? They already have the recipe! They already have an eager fanbase chomping at the bit.

Everybody elsee seems to be doing just find opening their second rate yogurt copycat shops, so why can't the best and the original acidophilous outlet get its act together??? I am getting impatient...

sorry for the typos in my tirade.

since it would be wrong to vote on something i've yet to try, i'll have to go with Dannon...

ok, so i was up in l.a. last week, and happened to be staying near pinkberry. i headed out for a stroll after dinner with every intention of getting some pinkberry for dessert to try it for the second time.

however...

i happened to pass by "angelina" yogurt shop on my way - it's almost directly across the street from huntley on santa monica blvd. this place used to be "cultured class," and it was kind of a pit from what i remember. but it's now under new ownership, and they've done a great job of cleaning - and classing - the place up.

all their sidewalk tables (bonus!) were full, and the place appeared to be hopping for a wednesday night, so i decided to wander in and take a look.

as it turns out, "angelina" makes all their own yogurt, they offer a bunch of typical nonfat flavors at any given time (i.e. chocolate, vanilla, cookies n cream, something fruity, etc.), also have non-dairy options, and even some of that nasty low-carb stuff.

but here's the kicker. drum roll please...

they have their own homemade "naturale" nonfat yogurt!

great soft-serve consistency, a bit less icy than the yogurt i had at pinkberry (my biggest complaint when i tried that stuff was the texture), perfect balance of tart & sweet, and less expensive than pinkberry! plus, i didn't have to wait in a 30-minute line.

the guy who served me couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. he didn't bat a eye when i grilled him about everything from the ingredients and types of sugar/sweeteners used in their different yogurts to the calorie counts in each variety. (fyi the nonfat naturale contains about 20 cals per ounce.)

i've gotta say, i'm sold. plus, i'm pretty much over all the pinkberry "drama" and buzz at this point.

bring on the naturale!

ok, 'yogurtfanatik,' you might as well give it up. considering the unbelievably transparent, biased nature of every single one of your posts, we all know you're quite obviously affiliated with pinkberry. you're not fooling anyone.

get over it already. competition is the nature of the food business. as the saying goes, if you can't take the heat...

actually, if you read his most recent post - the one in which he bashes 'angelina yogurt' [and the one to which i was responding most directly] - he claims that "the taste has nothing on pinkberry."

I heard YogurtfanatiK was supposed to be the 20th hijacker...And that it was really a PinkBerry Franchise that hit the Pentagon...

I'm sorry to say that I've not tasted Pinkberry. Can anyone make a comparison of the taste of Pinkberry vs TCBY? What so special about it. Do they use the same softserve dispenser like TCBY?

There's another good frozen yogurt place - Yoku Yoku. I'd say Pinkberry and Yoku Yoku taste the same.

i have to admit i love pinkberry and have been there nearly 100 times. but 1 out of 10 times it causes horrific stomach cramps and gas. even my dog won't withstand the smell. i think their machines are dirty because only sour milk gives me this problem. but i still go back for more, like bargain sushi. it causes oily stools too so it must have olestra in it! but DAMN it tastes good! so what if you are bloated and farting from it.

It’s Candy in a cup…

According to the nutritional information on the Pinkberry website.

One 13-ounce large size has 65 grams of sugar. That’s 16 teaspoons of sugar and 300 calories in just the yogurt.

One 8-ounce medium size has 40 grams of sugar, which equals 10 teaspoons of sugar for 200 calories.

The yogurt is nonfat but the toppings are full fat and full sugar.

Pinkberry has refused to release the ingredients in their yogurt. Why, if it’s just yogurt?

Finally, the yogurt isn’t really

They advertise their desert as a healthy snack but hide the truth. It’s loaded with sugar and hidden ingredients.
