Frozen Faux-gurt: You Know You Want It

Dear Pinkberry -
From the looks of your homepage, you seem to be doing a decent job of crisis management (acknowledge the issue, address the issue). Exhibit A:

But Pinkberry - PLEASE - unleash the marketing expert within you - this could be the next, NEXT big thing!

At my day job, we have a motto: if you can't fix it, feature it.

And in L.A., as you've probably discovered, people love "faux."
Faux fur, faux tan, faux boobs, faux relationships, faux dessert.

Frozen Faux-gurt

Seriously.
Real frozen yogurt has got to be damaging to the environment or cruel to animals or something. Give people a reason to go faux, and they'll be your faux friend forever.

  1. So LA, Colleen. If Pinkberry does heed your advice, be sure to sue them... that's truly LA.

I love it. I'll still go to Fakeberry. In the meantime, the lineup starts at Kiwiberry or Red Mango or better yet, let's hope that Yogen Fruz the biggest of them all comes to California.

  3. Does anyone find it suspicious that Pinkberry needs to investigate it's OWN product? Shouldn't someone there already KNOW what's in it? That's disturbing.

  4. Hey Rosie, so glad you're back! You're so funny, I can totally see the team utilizing "if you can't fix it, feature it"...bwah ha ha. Evil Barbies everywhere!

And the beta site is SO cute, great job! I'm so meeting you there.

  5. That's so crazy it just might work! Nice one, Colleen.

You know, thanks to Food Lover, I'm never ever going to try Yogen Fruz. Not only that, but I'm going to tell all of my readers to avoid it. Why? Because I don't like corporate shills. Yogen Fruz may have the best freakin' product in the world, but I'll never know now, thanks to Food Lover.

The Pinkberry thing is a health crazy tightass drilling them on a technicality. For a product to be classified as "frozen yogurt" according to government regulations, it must arrive at the store completed and in a frozen state. It can't be mixed and frozen at the store, which is what Pinkberry is accused of doing. All they have to do is take the "frozen" out of their marketing literature. I've never tried Pinkberry, but this whole thing seems asinine. If people want to get up in arms about something they should take a look at the war in Iraq.

I was at the Manhattan Village mall the other day and I ran into a new Italian Dessert shop called Veneto. They have frozen yogurt just like pinkberry, so I gave it a try, and I swear that it tasted better than pinkberry, fiore, kiwiberri, etc. You have to try it. I overheard one of their workers mention that they are opening in Westlake Village in September.
